Any color that looks good to you will look good on the bike. I'm kind of partial to blue myself, but maybe not quite that light of a shade.

In short, don't let our opinions on color dictate what you decide. ;)

Do not paint the motor, you will hate yourself
later. The value of the bike will stay higher if
repainted to OEM specs. There are many ways to
clean the engine, soda blasting, toilet bowl
cleaner,etc..If you replace the exhaust, some
after market companies reproduce the LTD 4 into
2 style systems. Quieter than a 4 into one and
you don't have to rejet the carbs. Also most 4
into 1 pipes will burn a hole in the bottom of
your saddle bag.

I'd strip off the baggage and fairing, recover the seat myself and polish up the rest, then reevaluate. I like a painted engine in some applications but I wonder if it would look a little funky if the rest of the bike were kept blue.

Besides, that doesn't look so bad from this distance.

If you go that route, maybe you'd feel differently when you're at that point.

I love a blue bike. ;) Not specifically just the stock blue, but blue in general.

I painted my engine years ago, looks nice but wish I had'nt now. Would like to take it off but am afraid the block and head would have a grayish tint when done. So I'm leaving it. As you can see I'm also parchial to blue! B)
