Ok I have the electric one that spins at 10,000 and 20,000 rpm. I have used my variable speed electric drill at very low speed with better luck.

One day while working I had to do some demonstrations with the Dremel, so I brought a cam cover in and marked down for "store use" some wire brushes and abrasive pads and did some work on my parts, but I couldnt continue marking things down as fast as I was going through them.

We have a Dremel rep that comes into Home Depot that said that when polishing you want the speed as low as possible, just enough to keep the bit turning.

BUFF RUNNING SPEEDS

For best results your wheel should maintain a surface speed of between 3600 & 7500 Surface Feet Per Minute. (SFPM). The higher your speed, the better and quicker your results.

Formula for calculating surface speed of wheel in SFPM.

SFPM = 1/4 x diameter of Wheel x RPM (revs of spindle per min.)
