Painting Engine was created by Night_Train01
I just finished painting the engine on my Z1R project. I read somewhere on this site that Dupli-Color heat paint was a nere match for the original paint......I taped off the parts I didn't want painted and then applied three coats of the high heat paint....it was an exact match to the original, the engine looks brand new again:ohmy:
The advantage I had is the engine is out of the frame but for anyone looking to bring their engine back to shiny and new then this paint is your answer......

Looks good Night Train!

I read somewhere that painting an air cooled engine causes it to not be able to cool properly. Is that not true?

What kind of prep work did you due to it before painting? I think I'm going to have to paint my engine as the previous owner spray painted his windjammer on the bike and got overspray everywhere.

Under my cast engine colors is a heavy coat of plumb purple:pinch: It did look good:blink: I have the picture but no negatives to copy on to cd so no posting pics of the bike when it was plumb purple.:(
If you look closly you can still see the purple

This link to my project shows before and after pics of my engine. I power washed it first then scrubbed it with a scotchbrite pad. Then wiped it down with acetone. I used PJ1 engine and case paint. It turned out great! Time will tell how long it will last.
