The side covers on my bike were heavily oxidized, scratched & gouged pretty bad. Spent a few hours restoring them back to a mirror shine :)

Since posting my 800px wide images breaks the forum layout, I'll scale them down, but you can click to enlarge.

Nice job! What methods did you use to get them polished up so nicely?

Palm sander to get the big stuff out, then step down to 400 grit wet sand. Then black emery & white rouge on 6" wheels on my bench grinder. Finished up with a coat of wax.

Not sure how this ended up in the chassis forum, should have been in engine...

That bike is looking real good I'm sure your Dad would be proud of you. Next you might want to polish up your lower fork tubes. Heres a link to an easy method of doing it. You will find it's way easier than what you went thru to do your covers. kzrider.com/component/option,com_joomlab...,5/id,151298/#151298

Thanks for the link! :) The fork tubes were definitely the next item on my list.

Hey moonwell,
You sure brought those covers back from the darkside. They look spectacular!
I think this thread belongs in Paint and Bodywork. If you still want it in engines, I'll put it there, Send me a PM.
