Rattlecan repaint

Way Cool! I'm gonna experiment with a few different methods. I HATE sanding. I know, I know! Still you can't blame a guy for trying!:blink:

Well done!!!! I was going to buy an air compressor and paint gun, but with results like yours, I don't think I will bother!

If you're doing more than just pulling and shooting the tins, buy the compressor!

Auto paint isn't *that* expensive, especially if you're going whole-hog and stripping the bike to the frame. Think of it as buying the paint that will reward you most for the work you've done to prep the bike.

You can get a detail gun for less than $20 which is more than enough for motorcycle jobs (and can be used for bigger stuff in a pinch). It'll last you a long time if you clean it promptly after use, and you'll be happy with how much more control you have over your spray than with a rattlecan.

I'm not knocking guys who shoot from rattle cans, as a few members have recently shown that you can do some darned fine work with a can or two.

I do think that people tend to have a fear of trying to shoot "real" automotive paints, though, and it's not necessarily justified. Try a single-stage paint. It's cheap, and there's no need for clear over it. If you don't like it, well, you'll find uses for your compressor anyways and if you've cleaned the gun properly you can probably eBay it without too much trouble.
