Need advice on painting engine cover

If the black is not over chrome the paint pen will last. This is a crappy shot blasted by flash, you get the idea. I bought the pen to touch up. Then just did the whole thing. This was done 12 years ago. This bike hasn't been cleaned, polished in 6 years either, so keep that in mind as well.

Mask the chrome outer sections only leaving the circle exposed shoot the whole thing let it dry and take a razor blade to the letters but be carefull you can also but plastic razor blades they will not scratch your chrome this is the way I did mine and I used crinkle finish as you don't want it shinny and take away from the chrome.

I've always used a very fine steel wool to clean chrome.
Works great for removing overspray from chrome too.
Get like a 00 or 000 grade wool, and you should be fine, depending on the quality of the plating job.
I've used wool to clean my exhaust system since I got the bike, and it works everytime. (well, except for the battery acid stains....:blush: )

I've painted both polished and chrome covers on my MKll's.Ended up mixing flat black and gloss black enamel paints to get the factory look, find yourself the best quality fine paintbrush you can at a hobby shop.

It's really not that hard unless you got the shakes from the night before...
