I've painted my tank with it and so far so good... No major spills though, just the occasional drops when I fill up, and I wipe those up with a rag.
I'm using flat black and plain white though, no high gloss finish, clear coat (they don't make a matte clear) or anything like that. If I were you I'd buy one can, shoot a couple of coats on a test object and then dump some gas on it. Hey worst thing that can happen is you're out five bucks ;)

I used it on my brake calipers. I got some brake fluid on them while bleeding them, and the paint was fine. I was very supprised.

Did you bake the parts in an oven prior to re-assembly?

On the subject of painting the brake parts: Brake caliper paint was used on my front brake, then baked in an oven. It's been about a couple of years & the paint still looks good except around the brake bleeder screw where brake fluid leaked.

No I just made sure it was dry before reassembly (a little over a week). I used the engine paint beceause all Advanced Auto Parts had for calliper paint was bright blue, bright red, and bright yellow (Damn highschool kids and their civic's), plus the guy that I talked to there said that the engine paint would probably hold up better to the brake fluid, so I figured I would try it.
