Winter storage

Still seems to me a center stand would be the most stable choice. Probably one of the cheaper ways to go too.

Of course a center stand would be best. No center stand? I wouldn't worry about it. Talk about storing 10 or 20 years, yes, but just a simple Winter? Just sit it and forget it until next Spring. Seeing as the bike has been repainted now every year or two for the last 25 years it doesn't appear that the tires were the main issue, or storage the focus.

When you work out how to get your tyres off the ground, deflate your tyres by about 50%. I had new tyres over inflated for six months in storage. The result was, two or so cracks around the circumference of the tyres (about 1/2 inch from the rim edge) both sides, both front & rear.

I've had Sunoco in the tank the last 3 winters without any adverse effects. I the spring I plan to transfer the gas anyway to my minivan and put fresh in the bike. Just make sure you add enough stabil.

There's not going to be any gas in the tank over the winter... I'm going to keep it inside my house too until it gets painted.
