Tires for a KZ400 D3? was created by KitNYC
Hey folks:

Hypothetically speaking, if there was a '76 KZ400 D3 that needed a decent set of inexpensive tires, what might those tires be?

I'm not seeing anything out there in the specified 3.25" x 18" front, the smallest I've seen is 3.5" x 18". Rear tires don't seem to be available in anything less than a 4" width. Will these fit?

Any input on low priced tires that will work well for low speed, around town use?

Cheers,
-Kit

I'm using Chen Shin's on my 75 400. I've heard they're not very grippy, but I have no basis for comparison, and the bike feels wobbly enough leaning over a little that I don't want to push it.

Is there a local cycle shop you can ask?

Thanks,

George

Hello, you might try looking for the metric sized equivalents instead, 3.25x18 & 3.50x18 = 100/90-18. Since the 100/90-18 rear can be harder to find depending on the brand you look at, I put a 110/90-18 on the rear of mine. I originally had cheng-shin himax's installed, they didn't seem to last long, about 12k miles, of course on some bikes that's very long tire life. They worked okay I guess, not real good, just okay.

I've currently got Bridgestone Spitfire's 100/90-18 & 110/90-18 on mine now. They're much better than the cheng-shins.
