Which way mount the front sprocket with 630 chain -76 KZ900 …

I am in the process of changing the sprocket and chain, but which way should the front sprocket be mounted with the 630 chain on the KZ900 … Should the sprocket with the raised boss be in to the engine, or the flat side … See picture:

Shoulder to the engine.  This is to prevent the chain from rubbing on the tranny cover.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
