KZ1000 Seat Identification? was created by Mr_Apollo
Hi guys!I’m after a little advice identifying a seat I have.My father broke up a lot of motorcycles in 70/80s and we’re still in the trade of used parts. I’m in the process of sorting out a lot of the seats at the moment.Searching the part number on the seat (53001-1234) brings up a 1983 KZ 1000 ELR seat assembly, but neither of us are convinced. We believe KZ seat to have a steel base. Also, the seat cover pattern doesn’t match that of genuine ELR seat covers.I believe it to be a GPZ 305 seat, but just wanted to confirm with you knowledgeable guys that ELR models didn’t swap to a plastic seat base.I just find it very odd that the PN is embossed, no other GPZ seat we’ve found has an embossed part number where ours is along with joining stitching to the rear lip.Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

This seat shape and seat cover patten belongs to the 83- 85 GPZ/ZX 305/400/500/550/750/1100 model bikes.

Here is the same GPZ/ZX 305 seat like yours:

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated. I think we’ll go with our original GPZ 305 hunch. Just never seen Kawasaki mis-emboss a part before that’s why I wanted to confirm with the guys that live and breathe KZs.
