Back then, (the 80s), I got the Akront rim and spoke kit from Kosman Specialties and had them lace it up also. Never had any problems with clearance or handling.  R.I.P to Sandy Kidman who passed away this year.  Interesting piece on him here. Good luck on your build.   www.dragbike.com/top-fuel-motorcycle-legend-sanford-kosman/

WOW   Thanks for the link on Sandy Kosman
It was a real ride down memory  lane

I was running 130 on a 18 x 3.50" front and 180 on 18 x 5.75" rear Akront rims in the late 90th. Wheels are for sale next...

I have a 150 on my 78 LTD so I was hoping for something similar on the wire spoke for the 76
The difference is that the LTD has a 16x3" wheel, while the 76 spoke wheel is 18x2.15". That extra rim width allows for a wider tire

If you're willing to get a wider rim then you have a lot more options, until the tire starts to contact the swing arm or the chain.  Then you need a wider arm and an offset sprocket.   How many parts do you plan to replace?

I am gonna have to get a wider rim the stock one is tiny even compared to my other KZ, I wanted to use the drum brakes but I think i'll have to switch to disc to use a larger wire rim.
