Tachometer - green "ribbon" inlay was created by Nippon
Hi, beginners question I guess:
My tachometer (on Z650 b1) has a green thin ribbon inlay around (hovering above) the dial.

It obviously is not a B1 feature. Is it from another model or is it a fancy custom trim thing going on?

Most importantly: can i remove it?

(The rest of the dial looks period and matches the speedo, so imho no problem keeping the rest of the tacho).

EDIT: Rather; can i just remove it, or will a black dito have to take its place to make it stock-looking?

The green is the color of the inside housing.  It's a separate piece which can be extracted.  Some speedos and tachs have a visible housing and others don't.  You can open the gauge by carefully prying off the crimp ring, which will allow you to open the gauge and paint the housing black.  Or, look for a matching gauge.  I know this because my bike is the same way (photos linked in my signature.)  It seems odd that Kawasaki used different gauges like this but that's just the way it is.

Thank you for solving my practical problem (and replace it with a Kawasaki esoteric one)!
