Need chain help for my 1976 KZ900 A4 was created by dancragin
My bike came with a 630 non-o-ring chain. I ordered a new 630 o-ring chain but its too wide and hits the engine cases.
I dont mind using a non o-ring chain if needed, but would prefer a gold one for my build.

Anyone have any advice on this?

Dan

Did you change front sprocket? I believe the factory sprocket has a flange that goes toward the engine. A flat aftermarket sprocket needs a separate spacer.

Look at item 31 on this diagram. its used with O-Ring chains. also check out your front sprocket as Krazee1 mentioned

www.partzilla.com/catalog/kawasaki/motor...rear-hub-brake-chain

EDIT, its also recommended that the sprockets be change when you install a new chain.

Thanks so much everyone. It turns out the issue was the cap screws used to fasten the motor plate behind the sprocket. I had used a lock washer on the screws
which made the heads of the screws sit proud and hit the chain.

Read the service bulletin 1975 Z-35!!!
You need a front sprocket with a rised boss and a spacer for the rear sprocket.
