Need suggestions for rear break was created by Mangajulio
Still working on my project 82 kz1100 shaft and I decided to have a bigger rear wheel. At first I try to install a rear wheel from a kz1300 (17x3.00) but the shaft was very different. So I decided to use a kz1000 st rear wheel (17x2.50), shaft fit perfectly.

Now with the kz1000st wheel I have to upgrade the rear break caliper as the break disc is bigger then the original 82 kz1100. So I install a kz1300 brake caliper.

The only problem I have is the break caliper for the kz1000st and kz1300 is bold to the shaft swing arm.
My idea was to modify the rear break bar but I know there are people with more knowledge here

Here is my idea

Any suggestions?

No, due to kz1000st wheel is bigger the original break disk won't fit. The brake disk thickness is different between the original kz1100 brake disk VS kz1000st

You can do what you suggested but you will put unintended stress on the brake rod. If the stress is high enough it will cause the rod to fail. No way to tell without a proper mechanical analysis.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
