Bike is a 1980 kz1000 police bike. The tires that are on it and in the manual are the same. Just need help with the conversion please and thank you.

On the bike Conversion
Front MN90-18 110/90R18
Rear MR90-18. 120 /90R18

So I went to the Kawasaki dealer today to see what they had for tires. He told me the conversion is 110/90r18 front and 120/80r18 for the rear. His book for KZ’s said the bikes didn’t come with 18 inch rims til the late 80s. Mine is a 1980j. Now I’m confused.

My other question is no matter if I go with 120/80 or 120/90 for the rear, all tire places consider them a front tire. It would be the same tread pattern and load for front and rears. Is there a down side to running two front tires on the bike?

Avon Roadriders come in the sizes you need. Great tires. Sticky but good longevity. There is a new MK 2 version out now which is reputed to be even better than the originals.

That dealer has no idea what he is talking about! Find another dealer - one who knows what he is talking about! Ed

Baloney!! The 120/90-18 tire is a rear tire. You need to look at different website or different tire makers. Below is just one exa,ple. There are many, many other examples. Ed
