Swingarm date code on kz1000? was created by DOHC
I've seen references to date codes stamped into the swingarm. I was looking at the arm from one of my 1978 Z1Rs and I can't find any stamps anywhere. Did they still stamp codes on the '78 kz1000? If so, where do I look?

I'd like to have it painted, and want to preserve any factory marks that might be present.

I don't know if they stopped but if it's stamped it would be on the top near the front right corner.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Not sure if this will be of any help but here is a page from a Z2 site about date codes.

That's an old John Brookes site. He no longer maintains it. All of that info and more is in his latest book, available through Z Power.

Yes. It's there. I looked right at it and didn't see it several times. But scrubbing a bit more brought it out. I had the impression it was on the bottom side, so initially I was looking in the wrong place. Thanks for the tip.

I'm guessing that indicates November, 1977. My frame head tag is dated 12/77, so that aligns nicely.

Correct, that is stamped in their Gregorian formate Y MM. So that is 1977 November.
