KZ900 Tach drive vs Z1 was created by Robb2018
A KZ900 I recently purchased had been fitted with a front wheel from a Z1. The PO had done this because the Z1 wheel was a lot cleaner than the one that was on the bike. He also supplied me with the wheel from the KZ that he had changed out. He also had new tires on the bike. So I recently unmounted the tire, took the KZ hub and respoked it on the better rim...( lots of work). After remounting the tire on the KZ wheel I now notice that the speedometer drive appears to be completely different on the two bikes and he didn't include the one for the KZ in the box of parts he had given me. A search of Ebay turns up no KZ900 speedo drives. Anyone know if it's possible to use this Z1 speedo drive somehow on the kZ900?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThis is off a KLX250. Looks very similar to the KZ900 drive. Does anyone know if it will fit?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationWithout having each in my hand I couldn't tell you how or if you could us the Z1 drive on the Kz hub. But I found several on evilbay. some with axles as cheep as $35. that Kz drive is used on 650, 750, 900, and 1000 from '76 up 1980. should be tons out there. An easy way to find parts is to go to Partzilla, get the part number and but that in your web search.

Id say No. Look at the link I posted to Partzilla. it gives you all the bikes that use the same drive. the KLX250 is not on the interchange list

The headline says KZ900 Tach Drive, but I think you meant speedometer drive. The Tach drive is the same on both bikes.

As for the speedo drive, I know the two are different but would have to check my parts bins to see how they differ. I should be in my shop this afternoon. Will report back.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
