Hi guys, I have a petcock that the PO jimmy rigged the filter screen (see picture).
1) Does anyone have or know where to source the filter screen for the petcock?
I saw a picture of the petcock for a 2005 KZ1000POlice model. It looks exactly like the one from my 81.
2) Does anyone have a compatibility chart to show what petcocks will fit my 81 KZ1100 shaft?
3) Can someone with a 03 to 05 KZ1000Police model measure the bolt hole spacing for the Fuel Valve AKA petcock? Mine measures 44mm.
Thanks in Advance for your advice and help,
Scott Z

Here is a fitment list. I was a little surprised that it is not the same part for all of the KZ1000 and 1100 models from 1981 onward. I wonder whatt the difference is. I do not know of a source for just the filter screen.

Thanks, Yes, the part # is 51023-1174 but hey are currently unavailable.
The part # for the new one I saw listed on ebay is 51203-1375 for an 02 to 05 KZ1000Police. It looks exactly like the one from my 81. so I was wondering if anyone has compiled compatibility lists to use newer parts for unavailable ones.

This isn't going to be much help, but I was looking for a screen for my ZN1300 a couple of years ago (not sure if it's the same as the one your tap should have but it looks like it would be very close). In any case, I wasn't having any luck, then at a swap meeting I found a guy who had a box of tank filters and I found one that fit my tap perfectly. The screen was for a different bike and the guy sadly had no idea what it was from. The point is, they are out there - but finding them is the problem.

Here are the dimensions of a ZN1300 Fuel tap/tank interface:

And the screen I found (I had to pull that tube out of it)..

Thanks CB900f, That looks like what I need to find. The dimensions you show are similar to my petcock. As you can see in my pic the PO jimmy rigged a Papermate pen body to work. Unfortunately the reserve screen is torn so essentially useless. I may be forced to reuse my fuel petcock as is. It does work. An in line fuel filter will be needed.

The problem with the ZN1300 tap design, yours looks similar, is without a sediment bowl, any crap that gets through the tap filter (or lack of filter) can collect in the tap internals causing them to bind, making operation difficult, and gradually wearing out the selection cone (the thing that directs fuel flow from either: normal or reserve inside the tap).

If your 1100 also has 44mm spacing, I don't know why any other 1000/1100 petcock would not work.

Z1E has one that fits them all.
www.z1enterprises.com/petcock-kz1000k44-...0-kz650h-kz750h.html

They also list a couple for Suzukis with 44mm spacing for less money, and I bet the just might work, too.

KZ1000P petcock. I think the bolt hole spacing is 44mm. New oem are still available. 51023-1375
It's the same one listed at Z1Ent linked by TexasKZ. The partzilla pic doesn't show the screen, but I'm pretty sure it's included.

The vacuum operated valves on the 1000 and 1100 use a completely different valve design than your 1300 valve. The newer design is not as sensitive to fine dirt as the cone style valve. Typically, dirt will prevent the little oring from sealing, but that is easily cured with a careful clean and polish of the internal parts, and a fresh oring.

Thanks for the input guys. I have ordered a Kawasaki 51023-1375 for the 02 to 05 KZ1000Police model. I am waiting for Partzilla to deliver but they seem to be dragging their feet.
My project is progressing. That means I am taking apart more and more pieces, cleaning, detailing and replacing what needs to be replaced. I am impressed how many parts are still available.
The bike is very original and even most of the rubber pieces are in great shape. I will eventually take almost everything apart but will probably leave the engine in the frame as it ran well , with low mileage, prior to beginning the project.
Of course I will spend more than it is worth but will have a real nice bike when I am done. It's a labor of love as many of you know..
