Hi Folks, can someone tell me what other models share the same steering stem as the GPZ750 R1, I'm doing a front end swap and need a stem to press into the new front end, i'd like to keep the R1 front end i have in one piece if possible...

Thanks

Assuming this is a 1982 KZ750-R1. From the diagrams at Partzilla the cross-references lists the 84 KZ700, 83 KZ750-L3 & the R1. I'd guess the other 750L models (non-USA) might also have the same steering stem. or at least 1 or 2 of them.

Click the part number for the x-ref.

Not sure if this will help. This list shows bearing sizes for stems.
Wish I knew who originally put the list together.

Martin had a better idea to really get the exact stem for that front end.

I don't know about that bearing list, but All Balls Racing has a Fork Conversion page.

Thanks guys, I'm having no trouble finding bearings, I have a contact in a bearing shop so that's covered. My main problem if finding a suitable stem here in Australia, I was hoping the gpz 750 83-85 unitrack had the same stem as they are fairly common here. A 30 dollar lower stem in the US ends up being around 100 dollars by the time i get it shipped here, I'm just trying to avoid that....

It wasn't so much about finding bearings. It was about finding stems that had at least the same diameter as your stem.
The lower bearing diameter may match your lower triple clamp stem hole diameter, but not necessarily.
If they match, then they can be pressed together. Length is a different story and is very important. We don't have those specs for you yet.

It's hard finding a direct source of the info you require so we have to piece it together. Hence, the inclusion of bearing charts.

I fully understand, I was going to use the stem on the showa front end i'm using but its too short, It wasn't hard to find bearings to suit that either. To make the Kawasaki stem fit the clamps I have i need to make a collar to widen the bottom of the Kawasaki stem so it will press into the alloy bottom clamp I'm using, We'll probably use a grub screw to make sure it stays put, anyway, I'll get to that when I find a Kawasaki stem, I may have to use the one I have in the complete R1 front end and find a replacement at a later date. I appreciate the help
