No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationHey guys. I'm a Kawasaki KZ750 newbie here. I recently got a
Kawasaki KZ750-K2 (Canada Only) and I'm having a hell of a time finding a front brake rotor. They are discountinued and since this bike was Canada only it seems front rotors are just not available.
I found theese on eBay.

As per partzilla they seem to be the same part number minus one digit after the dash. Will these fit as they seem the same and what do the numbers after the dash mean.

www.partzilla.com/catalog/kawasaki/motor...kz750-k2/front-brake
(Correct part number)

www.partzilla.com/product/kawasaki/41080...d22a1c70296bc56a4265

Any other suggestions to my dilemma I'm open to and sorry for the newbie question

Thanks!! :silly:

Since the part number is different, I wouldn't count on them being the same.
I would measure the 750K disk & note the minimum thickness on the disk, then find a disk that matches.
Single disk Fr rotors are sometimes larger in diameter than dual disk & the wear limit can be different (different min thickness).
My 1981 KZ650-CSR Fr br disk is 10-5/8" OD with Min Thickness = 4.5 mm. It's actually a KZ550 rotor, but the measurements are the same.

There's a 750K disk listed on EB. From the pics its wear limit is 5.5mm & the seller's digital caliper shows that it's 6.0 mm thick.

I am with Martin on this. The 750K1 was sold all over North America. You should be able to source a NOS or lightly used one.
Is yours missing or damaged?

No, it seems to be ok, when I got the safety done, the mechanic said it was a bit thin, but he couldnt source a new part because they are discontinued. It does have some thick grooves in it however. My concern is that in the future it would have to be replaced and the model I have unfortunately was only sold in Canada. The front brake also feels rather weak. I am not sure if its the rotor or pads or needs to be adjusted to grab better?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationUnfortunately this model was only sold in Canada and as per Partzilla this the only matching that part number is Kawasaki Motorcycle 1983 LTD Belt . It has some deep grooves and the front brake seems to be very weak even at full engagement like its not tight enough. Not sure if its an adjustment issue or a rotor issue. It will have to be replaced at one point and I am concerned about not having a replacement. This seems to match tho.

I will have to obtain a caliper and see. Im not near the bike for another week because of the COVID situation, I will check and see if I can see the minimum thickness, without removing the rotor. The link you provided seems to match however based on the information on partzilla. I will contact the seller to see if he can see the part number on the rotor. Thank you!

From the diagrams & cross-reference at Partzilla the KZ750-K1 & K2 used the same Fr brake disk.
To figure out if another disk can be used, you'll have to measure yours & go from there.

As for the weak braking, I would refurbish the Fr brake as necessary & install new ss braided brake lines. and maybe get new brake pads as yours could be contaminated with oil or something. Clean the brake rotor with brake kleen or something like that. You may need to rebuild the caliper &/or master cylinder if there are any leaks.

Note: old old old rubber brake lines can burst & should be replaced.

In addition to what Martin said, if the grooves are not too deep, the rotor can be resurfaced. A shop that does automotive brakes may not be able to do it since KZ rotors are steel, not the much softer iron typically used in cars. Any shop that can resurface flywheels can do it.
If you want to go that way, I suggest contacting PDM. There is a link near the bottom of the page. The owner is a long time member here and has mad machining and fabrication skills.

If you have enough thickness left, another option is truedisk. I just had a set done recently and they came back great, and fast. Excellent service.

Wow I think you just may have saved the day lol
If I'm reading this correctly it seems this rotor fits all the models listed on the page?

Yes, that rotor should fit all those models, but unless I am going blind, the 750 K1/K2 is not on that list.
