Lower shock mount question... was created by Samwell
Hi all. In my quest to revive my 1978 KZ1000A2, I've replaced the stock shocks with a pair from Progressive Suspension. Digging through the manual I've noticed that my lower mounts are different than the pictures suggest. Even the Kawasaki website doesn't have one like mine listed.
In the clymer manula and on the website, the shock mounts directly to the swing arm. On my bike I have this mount but theres an additional metal bracket, that in effect moves the mount point back about 3 inches. The trouble is that with the new shocks, the rear brake caliper wont fit back into place!

I'm considering just removing these extra brackets. Does anyone else have these?

See the pics for what I'm talking about...

Looks to me some one put that on there to do a cheap,fast,1/2a$$ way to lower the rear of the bike.

Looks like a home made pair of lowering blocks, if they did not mangle the original shock mounts then you can just move the shocks back to their original position.

They're pitched!

The original mounts seem fine. The wheel fits easily in place with the brake caliper.

thanks for the help...Sam
