All good stuff. I appreciate the responses. I don't want to complicate something simple so I'll center stand it, spin it and wipe/clean out with WD-40, Just love the smell of the stuff. Used to use it on my 12 guage back in the duck/goose hunting days. If WD doesn't get that PJ1 snot off, I'll go diesel. Atleast now I know what I can use. Seeing that our taste/smell senses are so closely linked, I'll probably like the taste as I employ Sandys pre-cleaning technique.:woohoo:

CHRIS!!!...I WAS ONLY JOKING BUD!!!...DON'T LISTEN TO ME...FOR GOD SAKES!!!

Oh ya sure. And I suppose next you'll tell me that you were only joking when you told me to check my gas tank level at night with a bar-b-q lighter.

Sandy,

I don't have any safety glasses. Is it safe to use the pre-clean method if I cover my eyes with my hands?

I learned about WD40 as a chain cleaner from KZr. It works good, and better if your chain is warm when you clean it. Take it for a spin around the block before you clean it.
I've changed from PJ1 to Maxima Chain Wax (also on the advice of several members). If you let it sit overnite before you ride, it doesn't sling off.
