1981 KZ1000CSR shocks from HD ??? was created by tnt79z28
I've been reading the threads on using Harley shocks as a replacement for the stock KZ shocks. I looked on eBay but am confused:unsure: as to which would be good for my bike. My weight is around 230 Lbs. and the wife goes about 110 Lbs. Looking for something that will give a nice smooth ride with the both of us on. But not too stiff that it will break a jaw hitting a bump or going over a set of rr tracks, either riding solo or double.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for the help....
Praying for a early spring... :-) :-)

you can adjust the ride and stiffness by adjusting the preload on shocks, find a set of shocks that you like that are about the right length and fine tune from there.;) goodluck, happy wrenching!

People mostly use the shorter shocks for Sportsters to lower thier bikes. If your looking for stock length you can get them a dime a dozen on ebay.

Hi all
Thanks for the answers. I measured the stock shocks on my bike(they were approx. 13.5" center to center.
So I'm assuming that I should be looking for the same if I want to keep the same ride height? I saw this set on eBay (13 1/2" STOCK SHOCKS 2002 SPORTSTER. Item number: 4612130418). Is this the type I should be looking for, and are sportster shocks heavy duty enough to get a good ride for my weight + the wife. I will probally have to either use my shocks bushings or sleeve the ones in the new ones to fit my studs if they are different, correct??? Sorry to ramble on about this but don't want to spend the money on something I can't use.... Thanks again for all your help..... Don:) :) :)
