zx9 forks

Just got a set of front forks complete with the triple from a 00 zx9 and I was wondering how much work is involved to replace my old KZ1100 front end.Took some measurments and the new fork looks shorter,and I know I will need front wheel and the brakes.If anyone have some input.Thanks.

Yes, you're going to want the ZX9 wheel and brakes to go with that fork. A wheel from another year or model might work, also. Then, of course, you'll want an updated swingarm and rear wheel to go with it. It's rather important that the wheels and tires more or less match each other. You don't want to go mixing radial and bias ply tires, for instance...

Every front end is different. Some can be adapted to the KZ easier than others. All I had to do to put the FZR front end on my bike was to swap the steering stem and get some bearings to fit. You will most likely have to add some steering stops and find a way to fit the speedo drive if you want to use it.

Speedos are overrated!

Honestly, I like bicycle speedos. Some are manufactured to be acurate to 180mph+, they are more accurate than motorcycle speedos too!

The only problem is the illumination. Very few can be illuminated at night continuously...

Then again, you could run one of these bad boys!

This gizmo has everything except GPS, and I think it's a matter of time before that's incorporated in.

I saw a GPS speedometer recently, I think it was in the Summit Racing catalog, all I really remember though is that it was way out of my price range

I have a speedo mounted but it is inop. I have looking for an electric speedo but they are all so damn high. Anyone know where to find a bicycle type speedo? I can always make a better looking mount for it and find a way to illuminate it.

They made one called the "Pandora". Check ebay. That can be illuminated, and if one were inclined, you could crack it apart and rewire it with a switch for constant illumination.
