I just picked up a 78 KZ650 and none of the lights work except for the oil light on the dashboard. It must be a single point failure for nothing to work, probley just a loose connection someplace. Anyone have a wiring diagram for this bike that could be email'ed or any suggestions would be appreciated. By the way, the ignition system works fine and the engine runs good once i cleaned the carbs. Thanks, Dan

The first thing is the same suggestion we give everyone, get a clymer manual for your bike. Ebay usually has them.

beyond that you could just check connections behind tthe headlight, and taillight. If you have a test light, or multimeter it will atleast give you a place to start.

Welcome to KZR auburn1956. Check your fuses while your at it too. Try spares, as sometimes they will look good, but are shot.

Post some pictures of your 650 when you can.

Thanks for all the responses. Once i get the roadmap(Schematic)it is usally pretty easy to find the problem. I will post pictures as soon as i get a sunny day, It has a tendency to rain a little in Washington this time of year, but also allows me to work on the bike. Thanks for the help. Dan

I hope you get it fixed easily. most of the time it is something pretty simple to fix, it's just finding it.

Good luck.
Dan.

78 650 D1

I tried to post the diagram here, but the website won't let me. If I make it smaller, it would be useless.

These limits are getting to be a nuisance.
