bypassing the cutout diode pack on a KZ550

a friend of mine is building a KZ550 chop, the ignition unit has a brown/white wire which goes to the diode, sidestand switch etc, how do we do away with this circuit?

Welcome to KZRider. If you are trying to bypass the kickstand switch is should be simple. If it has just one wire going to it, it probably just make a connection to ground when the kickstand is up. Just connect the wire to ground in this scenario. If it has 2 wires try just connecting them together.

Not familiar with specific application but...

Suspect it's a proximity switch and 'stand up' allows diode to conduct to ground(earth). Look at circuit and for a clue as to where to place your new ground. Personally, I would make it work. I wouldn't want to start bike and have it take off without me. I am somewhat absent minded at times.

dunno about the guy who owns the 550 but i personally pull the clutch in when i start a bike and look down to see if the side stand is up before i ride away so don't rely on these switches being there..
BUT the wifes GPZ def needs them! its so easy to knock the little F**ker into gear putting the stand down.. we have quite a performance storing our bikes which requires a far bit of moving the bike and getting off with the engine running..
