Lucky guess geesh :P
Good call Ron. We tend to look for the major things and overlook the simplest ones

1974 900 Z1 modified to look like a LTD , some engine mods. But I still have all the original parts.
1977 1000 project bike
1972 H1 project bike
If pro is opposite of con, then what is the opposite of progress?

Ron & Pat,
This is, in my opinion, what makes this site so important and valuable. So much experience, and so many people willing to share similar problems.
I also try to watch the threads, and to jump in with my 'helpful suggestions' when I can. But members like you, WG, savedrider, gargantuchet, etc (sorry if I didn't mention you, but you know who you are) have about 100 years of KZ experience. Can't find that at my local bike shop.

Pfffffft. I rarely know what I'm doing, but I often fake it well enough to hide that fact.  I'm also willing to do a little legwork when I don't know something, because often I learn in the process of finding it out (and I might need to know in the future).

Thanks for the kind mention, though!

And good work on the diagnosis, Ron. If the karma were still around, I'd have bumped you up for it!

ive seen a lot of kaws but i dont remember ever seeing a bottem headlight mount.if your bike is running the stock "elephant ears"as i like to call them and turn signals check the rubbers where the bolts go through and tighten the turn signal nuts inside the headlight bucket.if you ditch the ears and martian landing lights like i always do first chance i get,you can run an ltd headlight bracket and bolts and locknuts to hold your headlight on you should be able to tighten them plenty tight to keep light from moving!hope this helps, happy wrenching!
