firing order help was created by thawolff
i have just screwed up again.
i came to my buds shop to put wires on the '91 kz1000,
between the 2 of us, leaving the manual home, and a few beers we got the wires crossed. only 2 i think but the coils are throwing us off.

any help is much appreciated,
bill

2 coils, one coil fires 1&4 while the other coil fires 2&3, and both plugs on each coil fire at the same time.

Start with a complete tune up, including checking the coils and plug caps for resistance (you said you put on new wires, what about plug caps?), and checking/adjusting the valve clearances.

Don't even think about messing with the carbs until you have checked the ignition system and valve clearances :)

ok i used new plugs, new wires & caps but the old wires were copper, the new ones were not. could that be the problem?
i'm gunna check the coils today.
what will i need to adjust the valves?
shims? gasket?
i think thats the problem.
