New member here looking for either a place that sells new wiring harness for 650c1 or other guys with connections, etc., websites that may be able to help me. My silver 650 had its wire harness go up in smoke this morning? Can anyone help me? Ebay seems risky route to go....

You can try www.z1enterprises.com - They sell harnesses for the Z1/KZ900 and I am not certain about the 650. These harnesses come from Japan (PMC). I am thinking that eBay will be your best bet. You really need to get the same harness; year and model unless you are a bit electrical savvy as you will end up doing some mods otherwise to make the donor harness work. The MAIN thing is the way the right and left switchgear plug into the harness as well as if the donor harness came from a bike with an on/off switch for the headlight as well as a reserve lighting system and the same exact regulator / rectifier. If these things are not the same, you will need to do some figuring in order to make them work. When you find the correct harness, you can strip the covering off and clean up the wires and check for bare spots or hacks and fix these. I solder and use shrink wrap and then rewrap each harness that I use. After, clean the contacts on the connectors with contact cleaner and dab some dielectic grease on them.
