Tach was created by minutiesabotage
My tach needle came off its mount. It is still inside the gauge, but it is just rattling around inside, not attached to the center needle. I can not figure out an easy way to reattach it. I don't want to force it open in case I break it. Any ideas??

The only way to get access to the needle, is to open the tach.
But it's a bitch.
The tach and speedo meters are held together with a crimped chrome ring that goes around the circumference of the meter. If you uncrimp it, then you can lift off the top half that holds the glass.
Then you can get to your needle, and maybe re-attach it. It's hard to uncrimp the ring without damaging it. If you break it, then you'll have to find some other way to hold the two halves together. If you don't break it, you can use duckbill pliers to re-crimp it when you put your meter back together.
OR...
You can remove the tach and send it to ZResto. They specialize in meter repair/restoration for these bikes.

There is an article in the...articles section that tells you how to get your gauges apart, this should work for getting to your problem.
