Coil Wiring+other question was created by MJinCO
With my odd application of a 1000J2 in a little race car I have a coil wiring question.    Looking a the terrible wiring diagrams in the Clymer manual the doesn't have a J2 diagram.   The 1982 1000K diagram seems to fit better.  The 1981 J! does not have an electrical tach drive which I have.  First there is  a red/yellow wire from the ignitor the goes to both coils so I assume that would be the negative/common.  The black wire goes to coil #1-4 and the green wire to coil #.2-3 on the positive terminal.   The black wire also has a feed tht goes to the tach.  Is that correct or do I have my terminals reversed?
A second question there is a blue wire that comes out of the starter cover.  What does it do?

reversed , red/yellow is 12+, common to both coils, black and green are 12- to each coil for switching, blue is probably neutral light or oil pressure light, lol systems use 12- for coil switching, as it comes from ignitor, assuming you don’t have points, which also switch 12-

There's an 81-83 Kawasaki KZ1000 pdf floating around the internet and it may be linked here on KZR.
The wiring diagrams are in color and I assume they're better than what's in the clymer and the FSM should be better for other stuff as well.

From the KZ1000-J1 wiring diagram:
1-4 coil has the black wire. 2-3 has the green. the black wire provides the signal for the tachometer, so the J1 should have an electronic tach.

I'm not seeing a blue wire in regards to the starter motor or starter solenoid/switch. I would remove the starter cover to check what's what.

Here is the factory service manual.   www.kzrider.com/modules/ServiceManuals/K...Service%20Manual.pdf

the diagram for the J1 is on page 1-26. I do not see a diagram in the 1982 supplement, so I assume the J1 and J2 are the same.

Here is a higher resolution copy for the J3.    www.kzrider.com/filebase?task=download.send&id=245&catid=94&m=0
