Converting '78 KZ1000A rear light from Square to Round

Does anyone know if the early z 900 round light is a direct fit to the kz1000A models.  I have a '78 that I would like to convert to round.  I found the light on z1parts.net but not sure if it is a direct swap.

The fender is the same, so yes it will swap in, but only if you also use the round tail light bracket. Easy to tell the difference. The Z1 round has a round bracket.

Don't know if it matters in this case, but the shape of the opening at the rear of the later tailpiece matches the rectangular shape of the KZ1000 tail light.

Yep, and if you hold the lense upsidedown it fits the opening even better.

Thanks.  I was hoping just the lense would swap over.  Love the look of the round light.  I'll have to bite the bullet and get the bracket

I really prefer the round light.  Looks really sharp!

There are a few reproduction z1 900 tail lights on eBay for around $85
