Dyna s problem when setting static using a test light

Problem is that whenever 2/3 is not lined up to fire (at module/rotor) the test lamp stays lit but only very very dim. Curious does this indicate a bad ground??

The test lamp does FULLY illuminate when lined up at the designated setting but goes dim where the test light would ordinarily should be off while rotating crank. I'm just trying to avoid replacing any modules. Sure wish I's more smarter in this particular area

Static timing is only to get close so the bike will start. You need to dynamic time. Make sure you have an Allen wrench that fits the screw attaching the pickup to the timing plate. Start the engine and check timing on both pickups. It will take some patients till you get both pickups timed correctly.

Before making any changes verify that the circuit is correct.  when the rotor is not aligned to fire you should get 12v on both coil posts.
