so the speedometer is the electronic pulse type
recently quit working and thought it was the speed sensor however not the case
my fsm tells me to check the 3-pin and 6-pin connectors in headlamp case
these connectors are very adhered and stuck together, anyone have any tips on how to get 'em apart?
i did manage to check for battery voltage at the 3-pin speedo sensor connector - wht from male side and blk/yell from female side
with key on - no voltage

which wire in loom under tank feeds power to the odom, speedo, and tach? from what i see it's either orange or brown but not sure
also, noticed the orange odometer lead has no voltage either.
are these items related to the 10 amp horn fuse?
any ideas or thoughts, please chime in.
much thanx

Twenty-three years owning my 1100 have taught me to plow into problems and take chances.  If something breaks, then oh well...there's ebay.

Thing is, these bikes are tough.  They were made in Japan, not China.

Thank God.  Go for it!

so very true daveo
well now i have voltage at the 3-pin speedo sensor and it seems my odometer is at least rolling numbers same with trip meter, however the orange lead from odometer shows no volts
and from what i assume, is that the orange lead from OD then powers the speedo? i dunno but that's what it looks like on the diagram

I seem to recall a poor yellow/black ground wire connection behind a left-side ignition coil mount bolt was causing a minor tach-needle fluctuation some dozen years or so ago.

A wire brushing took care of that.

Will try and look at a wiring diagram later or tomorrow
Can you clarify which model you have, your previous posts refer to a 82 KZ1100 and a 82 GPZ1100 is it a KZ1100A? or a KZ1100 B1/B2 ? Vin number would be useful. Also can you post a picture of which instruments you have ?
Also ref the "jumpy" tach, I see you have an old post on this issue - was it resolved at that time or has it been an on-going issue ?

yes i thought it was a gpz but the further i looked into it seems it's a d1 model, or 1100d1 specter
daveo - i will certainly try that, thanx

The orange is the speed signal, now I know which diagram to look at I will put something together for you (didn't want to send you down a rabbit hole with bad info  )
