Do LED bulbs improve illumination at night, and operate cooler temperature wise than original bulbs?  If so, please suggest specific LED bulbs to look for.

Please post pics of similar Kawasaki gauges with LED bulb conversion.

I did the swop you are asking about on a 650. First time I rode in darkness I immediately regretted it and swopped back the next day.
They were too bright and reduced visibility of the road ahead because of the glare from the instruments. 
I only have led idiot lights now.

You could use a dimmer rheostat from a car to take the edge off

Not sure of the socket type but this is what I used in the dash. Warm white 2700K or less, anything else is way to bright.

This could be just what I need.  The indicator segments (TURN OIL NEUTRAL) illuminate well as is, but the numeric areas need some help.
Will that superbright led generate heat in an enclosed area?
