I have a 1982 Kawasaki kz750e and I can't get this thing to run for anything. I've rode it twice to the end of the driveway and that's about it. It just turns over but doesn't crank and stay running. I have replaced starter, solinoid, starter clutch, tried the Airbox, tried with pod filters, rejetting, replaced spark plugs, replaced battery, cleaned wires ECT.  Sometimes it will actually crank and run for a sec but it'll die and act like it just wants to turn over. It has a mind of its own and it wants to drive me insane. I need help, I need someone to buy it, or I need a priest.

With everything connected what voltage do you have 
  • What is the battery voltage static
  • What is the battery voltage when the starter is operated
  • What is the voltage at the coil + when you turn the ignition on
  • What is the voltage at the coil + when the starter is being operated

An engine needs compression, spark and fuel to run.  Check your compression.  If you don't have a gauge then check your spark.  Pull each plug and hold it against the engine while cranking the engine and check for spark.  If you have no spark it's either your coils or your igniter or your ignition.  If you have spark then it's likely a fuel issue.  Start with your tank...pull the hose off and put the petcock on prime to see if fuel runs.  If it does then put the hose back on and check the drains on your carbs.  If the carb bowls all have fuel then check to see if your choke is working correctly.

 

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Well I will be happy to check to voltage ECT when I get better, I was working on my motorcycle the other day and when I went to crank it the bike and me bursted into flames. I was burned pretty good and I don't know the condition of the motorcycle yet but I'm sure I'm going to need a wiring harness now. I don't know what the issue could be 

It had spark obviously, it has good compression, it was obviously getting fuel. Why would it shoot flames out the carbs like that?

Sorry to hear about your accident, hopefully not too bad. There are a few things that can cause "blow back" through the carbs like you have described
  • Carbs flooding
  • Plug leads on incorrect cylinders
  • Ign timing not correct
  • Inlet valve not seating correctly

You may have had the coils wired incorrectly.
