ThatGPZguy is correct.  LED quality can vary greatly.   And what was good 6 years ago is light years behind what is available today. My 78 had a sealed beam 7” lamp so I replaced it with a Hella brand with a replaceable H-4 bulb , halogen… Bought in at Summit Racing.  Then replace the H-4 bulb with a LED ONE. plug and play but do your home work on what works and light pattern, and light output in lumens, and color brightness.  6000 K  is a bright white, lower is more yellow 4500 K. And more blue as you go higher , 8000 K.

Good luck and let’s us know how it goes!

I made sure to buy a motorcycle LED headlight assembly that is DOT approved. They cost more than the random non-approved items, but I figured that logo gave me better odds of the light working properly (which is kind of important) and there would be fewer issues when the time came for the state safety inspection.

I managed to find a  nice unit with all lights included (high and low, drl and signals) that was also DOT and SAE approved for a decent price. The fit isnt perfect (fits a little loose in the stock mounting bracket) but I've already designed a little shim to 3D print to fill the gap.

Nice!

When I converted to H4 on a previous bike, I filled the gaps on either side by alternating flat rubber washers and flat metal washers. That seemed like a good way to snug up the housing and maybe damp a little bit of vibration.
