1982 KZ1000J IGNITER ???? was created by aquaholic
Started engine to synchronize the carbs. Shut it down and won't start again. No spark from the coils on any cylinder. New coils,  igniter is original. Any help would be appreciated. Stay safe my friends

Check the fuses first, next check primary/secondary ignition coils.
The service manual offers a multimeter test for the coils and ic igniter.

Is the igniter the same as a rectifier  ? Coils are new  and no spark on any of them

I forgot to mention that I hooked up the vacuum gauges and ran it to synchronize the carbs. I shut it down because of gauge flutter. That is when the issue started. I  had spark on 1 and 4 but nothing on 2 and 3. I installed a new coil and then had no spark. I ordered a new rectifier. I don't think that any of my wires are the same as the manual call out.  I'll going to go out today and look again. I do appreciate you following and helping me. thank you so much. Jon

The charging system (rectifier) has nothing to do with spark (other than the fact that the battery needs to be sufficiently charged to make the bike run.)

When doing an alternator test.   And this is following a factory manual.    The alternator is disconnected making leads available to voltmeter, and the engines is run strictly on battery power.     The battery does not need Rectifier/Regulator, as is already 12.6 VDC (unlike the alternator)

.....this is to say, as Nessism said.    You can run the engine....and have spark....with no alternator and no rectifier nor regulator AT ALL, as  long as your battery is healthy.
