Ok heres the issue. Put on 3 wire aftermarket blinkers, changed the flasher. Now the blinkers work but the running lights dont. If I pull the blinker wires the running lights will come on. Put the wires back on they go off. I have cleaned the ground and all connections but still the same. 1980 ltd1000. Any ideas?

Did you change the flasher relay to an LED type?
I had an electronic flasher, but when I put LEDs on, I needed an LED flasher.
Don't have running lights on the KZ anymore, so can't say if those would work.
The running lights are wired separately, having their own power feed not through the relay.
Can you reverse the running light and signal light's power wires?
Maybe it will work reversed.

Test the new turn signals. Use your battery and make sure you have working lights. LED are polarity specific. 3wire? How are they grounded?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configuration

Blue on your bike is running lights. Connect that to the white or yellow. Black/yellow is ground and needs to be black on the lights. Green on your bike is left turn and should go to red on the new lights. Slate is Right turn and goes to red on the right side new light.

I think the running lights are back flowing through the blinkers. Got some diodes coming will see if they work

Mikaw post=855599Test the new turn signals. Use your battery and make sure you have working lights. LED are polarity specific. 3wire? How are they grounded?

As Mikaw suggested, I really think you should test the light off of the bike, using just a battery connected directly to the wires of the turn signal.

Here is what I would do:

1) Connect the black wire to the negative terminal of the battery.

2) Connect only the yellow wire to the positive terminal.  What happens?

3) Connect only the red wire to the positive terminal.  What happens?  If it's on, is it more of less bright than before?

4) Connect both the red and yellow wire, at the same time, to  the positive terminal.  What happens?  If it's on, is it more of less bright than before?

One possibility is that these LED lights do not act like a dual filament bulb, which has a separate low power and high power filament.
It may be that the LED light does not get brighter when the turn signal wire is activated.  One possibility is that the LED is at full brightness when the driving light signal is active, an actually turns off when the turn signal wire is "active" (12V on the red wire).  This would make it switch from full brightness to off as the turn signal wire blinks on and off.
If this is true, it could also be true that the wiring in your bike is not providing the correct signal to turn the light on and off.

Testing the light with only the battery should show you how it works.

I have tested them and the red wire is bright and and the yellow dim on the same bulbs. This is why I think it is a power backfeed problem

What happens when both red and yellow are connected to 12v?  Still bright?

The diodes did the trick. Put them on the blinker wire
