Motogadget m-Unit Blue was created by letthegoodtimesroll
Over the winter I am redoing the electrical system on my '77 650 and will be installing the Motogadget m-Unit Blue and M-button. Has anyone done this and if so do they have a write up on it and a description of the new wiring harness? Thanks for any and all input.

I've used the basic, so close enough.

It's actually a pretty slick unit.
I HIGHLY recommend getting a ferrule crimper and using the proper ferrules:

The biggest thing is that the wiring is different than you're used to...  The switch has a single signal wire that goes to the unit, and the unit has a power wire that goes to the light (vs the power going through the switch to the light).

Here's the wiring diagram I made for my GS750E.  I think the diagram has a mistake in the high/low beam switch... I fixed it on the bike but never updated the diagram (I think the low beam shouldn't switch to ground?  It's been a long time since I looked at it).

I've watched a number of Youtube videos including the Revival ones but none seem to explain where the voltage regulator and rectifier go. I was hoping to be spoon fed with this. Lol! Thanks for your help guys. I will be handing this bike down to my son and I am just trying to modernize it.

The voltage regulator/rectifier aren't really part of the m-unit circuit.
On my bike they exist by themselves with the battery and the stator.

What other specific things are you wondering about concerning the M-unit?

R/R on my wiring diagram is the regulator/rectifier.  The stator feeds into that, which feeds into the harness.

generally, if you can, you'll want to upgrade the RR while you're in there

I've actually found some pretty good diagrams online and hoping that this will go smoothly. I will also try and document the process in order to assist anyone looking to do this in the future.

I ordered a crimper last night, thanks for the heads up!
