I have "spare" bike - I pulled whole plate from other motor and it looks much much better. Will try to install it and see if points will adjust, if so - it will be $0 investment. Otherwise I will go with Dynatek. Price difference is not much all considered. This "felt" thingy alone is $10 on eBay NOS.

Preferable to use the matching higher output 3 to 5 ohms Dyna coils to make the most of the ignition.

I agree with not using non-oem points, for the same reasons I would not use a non-oem Dyna setup. I believe adding aftermarket stuff makes the bike less dependable. Only if genuine points were no longer available would I consider going with a Dyna ignition.

I've been running the same Dyna 'S' in my daily ride Z1R for the past 20 years without a glitch.
If that's not dependable I don't know what is.

After some thinking decided on Dyna S. Reached out to Dynatek, super responsive support. With current 5% ebay bucks offer - ignition was like $100, worth it for me to replace points and not worry about all little pieces and adjustments. Will use stock coils for now but can easily upgrade to Dynatek if ever needed.

Some useful info I got from Dyantek, maybe helpful to someone:

If you have a Dyna-S ignition, the Miniature series coils (DC1-2) will not work. The DC1-2 may Only be installed if using an ignition with an active dwell control system, such as the Digital Dyna 2000. The Dyna-S has a fixed dwell and will overheat and destroy the DC1-2 coils and/or the Dyna-S very quickly. The DC1-2 may be suitable for use with the factory electronic ignition, but may place an added strain on the igniter module.

If you have a have a point ignition currently, or factory electronic ignition, the Dynatek DC1-1 coil set will be a much better option to use.
Should you have a point ignition, 5.0 ohm coils will be needed and our DC8-1 would be appropriate.
In either case, you will require new spark plug wires, and our DW-200 would be a great choice.

The DS2-2 Dyna-S and DC1-1 coils, along with the DW-200 spark plug wire kit are a time tested, reliable set up on these engines at an affordable price.

The factory ignition coils will also work well and can be replaced at a later date, if desired.

There are no counterfeit Dyna-S products in the Japanese product line. However, if you find a set of green, dual output coils that are advertised as "Just Like Dyna Coils" these are counterfeit and should be avoided at all cost.

Ok, now it's more clear why cyl 4 may not be running. There was spark when I checked but it was wondering around.

Today I tested coils (simple resistance test). Primary windings good on both. But secondary which should be around 23kOhm was 23.7 on cyl2-3 coils and just wouldnt measure on 1-4. I removed plug caps and it was measuring ~17KOhm. With cups - no dice. I thought it's bad cups, transferred from 2-3 - same thing.

Anyways.. I declare 1-4 coil dead. But now another dilemma. Get used from eBay or get Dyna S coils...

Buying used is false economy.
Get new Dyna coils to match the Dyna ignition.

Get dyna leads with the coils.
They come with caps attached and the crimps for the coil end once you have cut to the correct length.

Yes, I got coils with DW-200 kit, checked images closely they do have cups, just not 90 degree like original

Looks like I am all set then
