Not sure what is going on with this, but I'm on the 3rd brake lamp switch in 2 years. It almost seems like perhaps an over-tightened issue, where the mounting screw that runs through it, if over tightened pinches the two sides together causing failure of moving plunger to move between contacts. However, this is NOT what's happening. If loosened, makes no noticeable difference. Anyone else ever have similar issues? Any info appreciated. Gary

Buy a hydraulic brake light Switch, they last forever. They are available in M10 x 1,00 and M10 x 1,25 for single or double Banjos.

Is this the stock rectangular Fr brake light switch? Were the replacements oem Kawasaki parts?

I have had the same problem with my ZRX. My solution is to always have a spare on hand. All but one of them was genuine Kawasaki.

Z1Ent sells oem & aftermarket parts, so I'd verify what you got.
and while you're there you can check the prices of the other ones. I'd guess in the $20 range.

Mikaw it looks like that the one!! And you hit the nail square on the head, this bike has been through hell. Don't think it's ever been garaged, everything is sun baked and very brittle. It has it's fair share of issues after nearly 40 yrs of service LOL. I'm the lucky guy I guess .

The flat switch posted by Mikaw is for the GPz, the Spectre, and a host of other models and is still available new from Partzilla for $28.50.
The shaft drive KZ1100 uses a different style switch that Partzilla lists as nla new.
