So first off I love my '81 440 D2, but sometimes i get a little tired of fixing it, but that's the joys of having an oldie but goody. On to my issue, rode home from work no issues, it started right up ran perfectly fine, got home hopped off and let it sit before it went to the garage, give or take 5 min later head out to start it and i can hear the magnetic switch rattling like there isn't enough juice to pull it in all the way or something, so I wheeled it into the garage and hooked it up to a charger. Charger said it was at 73 percent so slightly confused i let it charge, went in the house had dinner came back out 85ish percent if i remember correctly, so for poops and giggles i gave it a shot for trying to start, turned over a few times then back to the switch rattling and the battery down again. Now this is only a season old battery but it was basically dead when i pulled it out this spring to start riding. Has my battery failed and just isn't holding charge like its supposed to? The battery is a YT12C Scorpion Sealed AGM. Any help is greatly appreciated as I'm stumped and cant really afford to be replacing everything trying to find the problem.

Might be toast... I have tried the scorpion batteries and gave up... The last on I bought was 2 years old before I even got it.... Pull it out of the bike and charge it... Then take it to a battery shop or and auto electric shop have have them load test it... It needs to recover to 12.6 volts after the load test or its no good...

Yup, Scorpion used to be great batteries, but the last few I've had only made it a year or two. Before that, they used to last 7 years.

I think I'm going over to Moto Batt brand... but not sure yet.

I’ve gotten to know a local shop here that rebuilds batteries, he’s a pretty honest guy. He recommended Magnapower. They are in apt he 80$ range...
