Yes, just 5 wires instead of 6. I believe it´s almost identical in the outside,

If you can find a wiring diagram for the 500 with the five wire switch I can probably give you a solution
EDIT: apologies I missed that you had posted the diagram, leave it with me and I will get back to you tomorrow

Can you confirm your bike is a "K" or "M" model (what is the first half of the vin number with all the letters?)

KZ1-00K-005007

That seems to be the VIN number.

I started dissassembly last night. The ignition key is not original, and they´ve even butchered the top yoke to be able to get the connector through it.

Let´s see if the Vulcan works. Thanks a ton for your help

Yes, indeed KZT00K. My ailing vision is to blame.

As I said before, ignition key has been butchered by PO, together with the upper yoke. Possibly to make room for the key connector to get through. I have a 6 pin connector plus an additional wire. See pics.

Hi Cartal - I can put a solution together for you using the VN500 switch but it will require some wiring changes and a relay (the VN has a grey wire which is a reduced voltage output used on later bikes as an anti-theft device) as you can only use four of the five wires.
However looking at the state of the top yolk and how much metal has been removed near the handlebar mount I have what I believe is a better solution for you. I don't know if you have seen my build thread but I also have an 82 Ltd and am not going to be using the below parts, if you are interested PM me with a reasonable/what you can afford offer +shipping (shouldn't be too bad from UK to Spain) I'm not greedy so you might be surprised (the key is aftermarket)
