New coil, New plugs, no spark was created by MadeupofWires
I recently changed my coil and plugs with no luck. Bike still won't start. I've hooked a spark tester up and get spark within the "bulb." When I pull a plug and ground it against the engine, nothing. No real knowledge of electrical/ignition.

When you test for sparks, you have to make sure both plugs from the coil are able to complete a path to each other or to a common piece of metal.

That is, assuming your coil has two plugs connected to it.

It would help to know what bike we are dealing with.

76 kz400. I leave 1 plug in the engine and pull the other and ground it against the engine. When I do this I was able to get 1 plug to spark a couple of times.

I would take both out and lay them both on the head so you can see them both at the same time.
This will also make it a lot easier on the starter or kicking.

You didn't mention new points. That will be a big factor. If the points are pitted and dirty, it won't get consistent spark.

Just did it with 1 small spark on the left and then nothing on either. I assume my points are bad.

I really don't think I understand. You did not perform a tune up on the bike, but instead you replaced the coil? Why not simply perform a tune up before replacing any parts that may be perfectly fine? Tune ups are a perfectly normal part of motorcycle ownership and must be performed periodically as documented in the Kawasaki Service Manual. Ed
