Hello kz comunity,

Howdy. What year & specific model is your KZ650? Can you remove the electrical component from the bracket for a better view of how the wires are connected? I looked at the diagrams at Partzilla for various models, but didn't see a bracket like that. And the only unusual electrical component I can think of is the regulator found on some models, such as the 77 KZ650-C1 or 78 KZ1000C Police.

It's not a voltage regulator from a KZ650-C1. Here's what that unit looks like. Ed

There's a "regulator" listed in the chassis electrical diagram for a few models, including the 650-C1. Part #21066-026. It's a small part & I have no idea of its purpose. Cmsnl.com has a pic of it.

Looks more like an ballast resistor/interference filter to eleminate electric HF emissions.

That piece (21066-026) is a "Turn Signal Regulator" for the KZ650-C1. Ed

I think you are right, it is possible to be interference filter. It appears that's functioning without this part.

I haven't a photo with this attached and now all electrical wires are removed from motorcycle.

It does appear to be a resistor like Scirocco said. If someone installed it to compensate for some aftermarket coils that are too low in resistance, you will want to get different coils or use the resistor.

The stock coils should be about 4 ohms when using points. If it was converted to electronic ignition, it may be lower depending on which ignition was used.
