All of the KZ650 & 750-4 tachometers I've seen have R = 1:5 stamped in ink on the back.
FWIW, dimecitycycles states that most Kawasakis & yamahas use a 1:5 ratio.

Hi all. Sorry to pose this question once again. I've searched and haven't found anything specific to my bike. Does anyone happen to know the tach ratio for a 1980 KZ750G? I've read in multiple places that KZs usually are 1:5 for fours, but I could've sworn I remember reading twins like mine are 1:4, but now I can't find it anywhere. My stock tach and cable has completely fallen apart or else I'd do the manual rotation/rev test.  Thanks in advance!

I've never found a kawasaki one that wasn't 5:1 ratio. As far as I know all the other 3 use 7:1.
One one particular build I wanted to use a specific tacho which happened to be a Honda analogue item. When I hooked it up it read 1400 rpm when the engine was running at 1000rpm. I was that set on using that particular tacho that I resulted in making an inline reduction gearbox to remedy it.

Thanks! I'll give it a shot with a 5:1.
