i see the fault finding charts only works if you have a rectifier and regulator in a singal case!!

is there on for reg/rec seperated??
i got a kz650 b-1 i need to check out and it has them as seperate units?

To test the regulator with the bike running, measure voltage at the battery at idle. Should be nominal 12VDC or a shade over. Measure at 4K rpm; should be about 14.5 VDC. If you have higher or lower, the only test that is easy to do on the regulator is to first disconnect battery then measure impedence between black and brown wires. I think if you have a good regulator, it should be 1050 ohms or thereabouts.

To test the rectifier bridge, there are four terminals. With the battery disconnected, put your probes on two of them. Should a lower impedence... 10 Ohms comes to mind. Reverse your probes and you should have infinite resistance I think. If you flunk after testing more than two of the checks, the rectifier bridge is bad. I am thinking this is correct as I am doing this from memory... I would definitely look at a manual to check the rectifier. I have never seen one go bad... I have seen the regulator go bad.
