no charging,can't find parts

ok, i own a 77 kz650c and it's not charging. i'm tired of messing with this 30 year old 3 phase charging system. i have wrote a previous post and was refered to dennis kirk for the regulator/rectifier convertor to make it one unit and jump my bike into the 21 century. well i just got a e-mail saying the part was backordered so i called them and low and behold it's discontuined. the part # was 20-1248. any ideas guys? this is getting very frustrating. i'm still waiting on my manual from e-bay so i'm kind of shotgunning parts and ideas for now.i also wanted to know if i can use the stator and rotor from the 78 bike without having to change the whole harness.(boy i really hate gremlins) i can't even fine tune or syrnco the carbs till i figure this out so any help will be appericated! thanks everyone!

Not sure if it'll help, but try John Overholt at Cycles R' Us. He's got a pretty extensive boneyard of old mid-sized Kaw stuff lying around...
